This hands-on role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical, controls, and automation systems across a manufacturing environment. Working alongside Maintenance, Engineering, Production, and other teams, the technician will diagnose equipment issues, reduce downtime, carry out preventive maintenance, and contribute to ongoing improvements in equipment performance.

Key Responsibilities:

- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated manufacturing equipment, PLC-controlled systems, HMI interfaces, sensors, field devices, variable frequency drives, servo systems, motors, relays, contactors, and related controls.
- Perform PLC troubleshooting and authorized programming changes; assist with installation, testing, commissioning, and upgrades of equipment and control systems.
- Maintain accurate backups and documentation for PLC programs, HMI applications, drive parameters, and equipment configurations.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electromechanical equipment, motors, control panels, wiring, circuits, and related components.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, equipment drawings, and control documentation; use appropriate testing equipment to identify faults.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance, assist with mechanical troubleshooting, and support equipment installations, modifications, and capital projects.
- Respond to production breakdowns, work with production personnel to restore equipment safely, and identify root causes of recurring failures.
- Document repairs, maintenance activities, equipment conditions, and parts used in the maintenance management system; recommend improvements to maintenance procedures.
- Follow electrical safety requirements, Lockout/Tagout procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, food safety standards, sanitation procedures, and applicable plant policies.
- Maintain clean, orderly work areas and promptly communicate equipment issues, hazards, and outstanding maintenance needs.

Key Qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree, certificate, apprenticeship, or specialized training in electrical technology, industrial automation, electronics, mechatronics, or a related discipline preferred.
- Prior experience troubleshooting electrical and automated equipment in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred; food manufacturing, packaging, processing, or other high-speed production experience is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of several relevant systems, including PLCs and ladder logic, HMIs, industrial electrical systems, VFDs, AC/DC motors and motor controls, servo systems, sensors and instrumentation, relays, contactors, starters, industrial networking, control panels, and field wiring.
- Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, mechanical power-transmission components, and computerized maintenance management systems is beneficial.
- Experience with the PLC and automation platforms used at the facility is highly desirable.
- Ability to systematically troubleshoot complex equipment, identify root causes, and apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, technical drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance documentation.
- Comfortable using multimeters, electrical testing equipment, hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments safely.
- Able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production setting, communicate clearly, document work accurately, and collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, Production, Quality, and other departments.
- Willingness to learn new equipment, control technologies, and automation systems.
- Able to meet the physical demands of industrial maintenance work, including prolonged standing and walking; bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and accessing elevated or confined areas as needed; using ladders and tools; and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling equipment.
