Step into a Day on Our Sow Farm

At General Labor Services, your morning begins in the farrowing and breeding barns—checking sows and litters, confirming feed and water access, and assessing animal well-being. As the day unfolds, you help with processing and vaccinating, assist with animal movement, and support weaning and loading activities. Between tasks, you sanitize pens, walkways, equipment, offices, and laundry areas to protect herd health through strict biosecurity. Throughout it all, you document observations, track animal data, and promptly report any irregularities so the team can take quick action.

What You Will Do

• Deliver daily husbandry: feed, water, monitor health, process, vaccinate, and assist with breeding, farrowing, weaning, movement, and loading.
• Clean and disinfect barns, pens, walkways, equipment, offices, and laundry areas, following rigorous biosecurity and sanitation procedures.
• Track animal information, maintain accurate records, monitor barn environments, and report concerns to management.
• Operate and care for equipment and facilities while following safety, environmental, and animal welfare standards.
• Collaborate with teammates to keep breeding and farrowing operations productive; take on additional duties as assigned.

What You Bring

• Comfort working in a farm and livestock setting.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Stamina to walk, bend, stoop, climb, and perform repetitive motions throughout the day.
• Ability to see clearly, distinguish colors, and hear effectively.
• Reliability, attention to detail, strong work ethic, and commitment to safety and biosecurity protocols.

Preferred

• Background in farming, agriculture, livestock, or animal care (helpful but not required).
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
• Dedication to animal welfare and a safe workplace.
