The Role
This is truly a special opportunity. A warm, welcoming family in New Canaan is looking for a Nanny for their two boys, ages 6 and 2. They want someone long-term who will grow with their boys and build a strong bond with them. Equally important to them is finding a Nanny who will be engaged and enthusiastic about turning the boys' interests into crafts, projects, and activities. When you walk into the home, you immediately know that young children live there. The boys’ play area is full of color, their artwork, craft supplies, race cars, marble runs (plus more), and the house is decorated both inside and out for Halloween. They hang festive decorations throughout the year, with Thanksgiving next, then Hanukkah in December.
The parents are seeking a partner, not only a caregiver. Mom is home full-time, and the family is a big believer in one-on-one focused time, so you'll often be with one of the boys while she's with the other, and then you'll swap. They're looking for someone positive and energetic, who is genuinely happy to be there, gets excited about what the boys are interested in, and makes their days feel special.
About the Children
The older boy is 6 and in first grade. He's academically focused and has learned the flag of every country in the world. His little brother is 2 and goes to a three’s program 3 mornings a week. He loves whatever his big brother is into. The two of them are quite sweet with each other and easy to be around. After school, both boys are active with swimming, tennis, piano, reading, math, art, and music classes. An educator comes to the home twice a week for interest-based learning. They aren't adventurous eaters (think chicken tenders and grilled cheese), and there are no allergies or dietary restrictions.
The Household
- Staff: A full-time housekeeper and full-time driver
- 3 rescue cats
- Their grandparents live nearby and are very involved in the boys' lives. They have a strong village.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Create a safe, engaging environment for both boys
- Plan, prepare, and serve the children's meals (simple child-friendly meals)
- Lead indoor and outdoor play
- Plan outings, crafts, and educational activities built around the boys' interests
- Drive the boys to school, to after-school activities, and playdates in the family's car
- Read with the boys
- Keep the bedrooms and playroom organized, and help decorate the house with the boys as each holiday comes around
- Keep daily logs and send the parents photos and updates
- Run errands when the boys are in school
T

- A few specific dates will be confirmed before hire.
Qualifications the Family Is Looking For

- A steady, grounded, and warm presence
- Strong communication skills and good judgment, especially when explaining things to a curious 6-and 2-year-old.
- Shared values: doing the right thing, being kind, and being able to express gratitude to the people in the boys' lives
