Job Description
Ready for a career-defining build?

We’re assembling a team of traveling Journeymen for a long-haul industrial project in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. If you’re a licensed electrician who thrives on precision, safety, and getting it right the first time, this is your moment. Must have Journeyman License.

The mission

Help deliver a multi-year industrial program where workmanship is measured in millimeters and minutes saved on commissioning. You’ll travel (Texas and other reciprocal-state Journeymen encouraged) and plug into a 10-year plan with stability, overtime, and support.

What success looks like
  • Flawless installs: EMT, rigid, IMC, and flex; panels, lighting, and equipment that meet NEC and clear inspection on the first pass
  • Smart layout: read prints/one-lines/specs and bend conduit that coordinates with other trades—no rework
  • On-time startup: pull, terminate, and test feeders/branches; verify voltage, rotation, and load to commission without delay
  • Rapid recovery: troubleshoot, repair, and document fixes that stand up to audit
  • Relentless safety: clean work areas, daily OSHA and LOTO discipline, and a safer site by day’s end
Pay, per diem, and travel
  • $50–$55/hour depending on experience and work history
  • $180/day tax-free per diem for eligible travel costs
  • Lodging provided
  • Work 5 days, receive 7 days of per diem
  • Planned 10-year project horizon; travel role for those comfortable working away from home
Site & schedule

First shift in Cedar Rapids on commercial/industrial construction. Bring standard electrical hand tools and required PPE: hard hat, ANSI safety glasses, hi-vis, long pants, safety-toe boots, gloves, and hearing protection. Expect a drug-free, safety-first environment with full backing from Summit.

What you bring
  • 5+ years commercial electrical or 6+ years industrial/manufacturing electrical experience
  • Strong EMT bending skills; device and panel installs
  • Ability to read schematics and work to NEC/OSHA
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to lift up to 75 lbs
Essential Qualifications
  • Own standard electrical hand tools and OSHA-compliant PPE; authorized to work in the U.S.
  • All candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Licensing

Hold an Iowa Journeyman license or one recognized through reciprocity from: Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin, or Wyoming. Out-of-state Journeymen are welcome—subject to Iowa licensing requirements.

Benefits and backing
  • Long-term, first-shift assignments with overtime
  • 401(k) with match, PTO, holiday pay, and health insurance
  • Life, disability, and limited medical options
  • $1,500 referral bonuses and a recruiter who picks up the phone: 717-626-4410
