Classroom Assistant | Lees Summit, Missouri

Support elementary-aged learners as an Instructional Assistant in a dedicated Functional Skills Program designed for students with moderate to severe cognitive, developmental, or multiple disabilities. This contract opportunity offers you the chance to make a meaningful impact each day in a specialized classroom (often referred to as Life Skills or Essential Skills) serving K-5 students. You'll play a key role in helping students reach their potential by assisting with individualized instruction and daily routines.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Previous experience as a paraprofessional or instructional assistant preferred
• Familiarity supporting students with cognitive, developmental, or multiple disabilities
• Patience, adaptability, and a strong desire to work collaboratively with teachers and related service staff
• Ability to assist with personal care, mobility, and communication needs as required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Dependability and commitment to maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support classroom teacher with tailored instruction in a small, self-contained classroom setting
• Assist students with academic and daily living skills
• Foster a safe, supportive atmosphere encouraging student independence
• Adapt instructional materials and activities to meet student needs
• Offer reinforcement and encouragement to help students achieve their IEP goals
• Help with classroom management and organization
• Implement teacher-directed strategies and behavioral supports
