About this job
HSE Coordinator | Manufacturing
Santa Ana, CA | Onsite | $38$45/hr
Are you an HSE professional who enjoys being out on the production floor, solving real safety problems, and taking ownership of compliance rather than spending the entire day behind a desk?
Actalent is partnering with an established manufacturing organization in Santa Ana that is adding a dedicated HSE Coordinator to its team. This is an opportunity to step into a visible role supporting safety, environmental compliance, audits, employee training, incident investigations, and continuous improvement across an active manufacturing operation.
The team is looking for someone who already understands the fundamentals of HSE and can operate with a good degree of independence. You won't be expected to walk in knowing every company-specific process. The organization will train the selected candidate on its internal standards.
What You'll Do
- Support internal and external HSE audits, including preparation, documentation, findings, corrective actions, and follow-up.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA requirements, company HSE procedures, and applicable environmental requirements.
- Conduct workplace safety and environmental inspections.
- Investigate injuries, incidents, near misses, and environmental events.
- Identify hazards and help drive corrective and preventive actions through closure.
- Support JSAs, risk assessments, and safe-work procedures.
- Coordinate HSE orientations, recurring training, and employee safety communications.
- Maintain HSE records, metrics, training documentation, and compliance information.
- Support environmental programs involving waste, recycling, wastewater, and air quality.
- Maintain an active presence on the manufacturing floor and reinforce safe work practices.
- Participate in emergency preparedness and continuous-improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For
- Previous HSE/EHS experience, ideally within manufacturing or another industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of OSHA and HSE compliance.
- Hands-on exposure to HSE audits, ideally including external audits.
- Experience with inspections, incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple HSE priorities.
- Spanish/English communication skills are strongly preferred, particularly for employee safety communication and training.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, but relevant experience can be considered in place of the degree.
- HSE/OSHA-related certifications are a plus.
- Microsoft Office proficiency required; SAP/business-system exposure is a plus.
Why This Opportunity?
This isn't a role where you'll only maintain spreadsheets and policies. You'll have direct interaction with employees, operations, engineering, maintenance, quality, and leadership while helping shape day-to-day safety and compliance within the facility.
The organization is establishing dedicated HSE support, giving the person hired an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of the function.
