Job Title: Production AssociateJob Description

The Production Associate supports sheet metal fabrication and packaging operations by handling finished skids, preparing materials for shipment, and assisting with trim bending and product handling. This role works closely with machine operators and material handlers to ensure products are properly cut, packaged, and staged, while maintaining a safe and efficient warehouse and production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Take finished skids from the mill and load them with sheet metal from the bender in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Determine appropriate packaging materials or coverings for each skid and apply them to protect products during storage and shipment.
  • If forklift certified, safely place skids in the rack system and accurately locate and stage them within the warehouse.
  • Cut longer sheet metal panels (shortcuts) into shorter panels that are outside standard mill capabilities, following measurements and specifications.
  • Band products either from horses or on a roller table, ensuring secure bundling and proper labeling when required.
  • Band and nail crates together using a nail gun, creating sturdy packaging that meets shipping and handling requirements.
  • Assist with running Quadro product and condenstop as an extra material handler when needed, supporting production flow and minimizing downtime.
  • In the TRIM role, work in tandem with others to bend trim, end caps, fascia, and related components according to production standards.
  • Operate a forklift in a safe manner when required, following all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Perform general labor and production tasks on a regular basis, including material handling, basic fabrication support, and housekeeping duties.
  • Follow established warehouse and production processes to maintain an organized, efficient, and safe work area.
  • Respond to short-notice overtime requests, as needed, to support production demands and meet customer timelines.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to perform general labor and production work in a warehouse and metal fabrication environment.
  • Capability to safely handle sheet metal and building materials, including lifting, moving, and positioning products.
  • Willingness to operate a forklift in a safe manner; prior forklift experience is preferred but not required.
  • Comfort using basic hand tools and power tools, including nail guns, for banding and crate assembly.
  • Ability to follow measurements and instructions to cut longer panels into shorter panels accurately.
  • Attention to detail when determining packaging needs and applying coverings to protect finished products.
  • Reliability in adhering to assigned shift schedules and responding to overtime requests when needed.
  • Ability to work effectively in tandem with others, particularly in the TRIM role for bending trim, end caps, and fascia.
  • Basic understanding of warehouse, shipping and receiving, and general production workflows.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures in a metal fabrication and warehouse setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a warehouse, production worker, laborer, or general labor role is beneficial.
  • Experience with sheet metal, fabrication, and general production processes is an advantage.
  • Previous forklift operation experience is preferred, especially for the Bander Operator role.
  • Background in shipping and receiving or general warehouse operations is helpful.
  • Comfort working with banding equipment, roller tables, and material handling tools.
  • Ability to support multiple product lines, including trim, Quadro product, and condenstop, as an extra material handler.
Why Work Here?

Employees join a steady metal fabrication operation that offers consistent year-round work with additional opportunities during peak seasons. The environment encourages hands-on learning, with the chance to gain experience in multiple production areas, including material handling, trim bending, and packaging. Team members benefit from clear shift structures, opportunities for overtime, and a collaborative shop culture where everyone contributes to meeting production goals.

Work Environment

The role is based in a metal fabrication shop that produces steel building materials for structures such as pole sheds. The facility is fairly clean for a metal shop, though some dirt and debris are typical of a fabrication environment. The core team consists of approximately 10 year-round employees, with additional contractors joining during the summer months to support increased demand. Work involves regular interaction with sheet metal, fabrication equipment, banding tools, nail guns, roller tables, and forklifts. Available shifts include a Bander Operator schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and a Folder/Trimmer schedule from 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Short-notice overtime may range from 0 to 3 hours, usually with at least a days notice, though occasionally requested the same day. Dress should be appropriate for a metal shop environment, with practical work attire and safety-conscious footwear suitable for handling steel materials and operating equipment.
