HIM Analyst (Health Information Management Analyst)

Key Responsibilities

·       Process and track medical record requests while ensuring HIPAA compliance.

·       Verify authorizations and patient identities before releasing records.

·       Maintain accurate documentation of requests, payments, and released records.

·       Manage incoming calls, mail, faxes, and customer inquiries.

·       Protect confidential health information and secure electronic records.

·       Assist with ROI (Release of Information) processes and general HIM administrative tasks.

·       Escalate incomplete or questionable requests as needed.

Required Qualifications

·       2+ years of healthcare experience working with EMR systems.

·       Experience handling medical records and healthcare documentation.

·       Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.

·       Ability to multitask, work independently, and maintain confidentiality.

·       Proficient with electronic systems and document management.

Education

·       Associate's Degree in Health Information Technology, or

·       Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management, or

·       High School Diploma/GED with 2+ years of healthcare experience.

Preferred Qualifications

·       Experience with ROI processes and authorization verification.

·       Familiarity with electronic health record and tracking systems.

·       AHIMA credential preferred.

Certification

·       RHIA or RHIT certification required.
