Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Supported Living Services (SLS)

Location: Modesto, CA
Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Shifts Available (Morning, Evening, Overnight)
Pay Range: $17.00 - $19.00/hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our Supported Living Services (SLS) agency. In this role, you will work one-on-one with adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, empowering them to live independently in their own homes and actively participate in their local communities. You are not just a caregiver; you are an advocate, mentor, and partner in helping our clients achieve their personal goals.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Independent Living Support: Assist individuals with daily living skills, including meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, household chores, and personal hygiene.
• Community Integration: Accompany and transport clients to medical appointments, community events, recreational activities, and grocery shopping.
• Goal Implementation: Implement individualized objectives outlined in the client's Individual Program Plan (IPP) and Individualized Service Plan (ISP).
• Medication Assistance: Assist with medication reminders and administration in strict compliance with state regulations and agency training.
• Financial Mentorship: Assist clients with basic budgeting, banking, and paying bills while promoting financial independence.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate, daily electronic logs of services provided, incident reports, and goal progress tracking in compliance with California Title 17 requirements.

Minimum Hiring Requirements

• Age: Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Transportation: Valid California Driver’s License, a reliable vehicle with valid registration, and proof of current auto insurance (clean DMV record required).
• Clearances: Must pass a mandatory criminal background check via Live Scan fingerprinting (DOJ and FBI) and an Office of Inspector General (OIG) exclusion check.
• Health Screening: Ability to provide proof of a negative Tuberculosis (TB) test or chest X-ray taken within the last year.
• Legal Status: Legally authorized to work in the United States (Form I-9 verification).

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Valid First Aid and CPR Certification (Agency training can be provided upon hire).
• Completed California Direct Support Professional (DSP) Year 1 or Year 2 certification (highly valued, but we will train the right candidate).
• Strong communication, active listening, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in caregiving, behavioral health, mental health, or working with the IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) community is a plus but not required.
