API Developer

This is an ON-SITE position with NO RELOCATION ASSISTANCE offered. NO PHONE CALLS, PLEASE!

Ascent Administration is seeking an experienced API Developer to build, maintain, and support integrations between our business applications and external partners. We're looking for someone who can manage integration projects from technical requirements through deployment and ongoing support.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain secure, reliable APIs.
• Integrate internal applications with third-party platforms and partner systems.
• Work with external development teams to define requirements, map data, and resolve integration issues.
• Troubleshoot failed requests, authentication errors, and data discrepancies.
• Implement logging, monitoring, error handling, and retry processes.
• Maintain clear API documentation, specifications, and sample requests.
• Manage testing, deployment, versioning, and ongoing support.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience developing and supporting APIs in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of C#/.NET, REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, and SQL databases.
• Experience with authentication and authorization, including OAuth 2.0, API keys, and token-based access.
• Ability to read API documentation and independently implement integrations.
• Experience with Postman or similar API testing tools, Git, and debugging.
• Understanding of API security, data validation, and performance optimization.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five or more years of professional API development and integrations experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, SQL Server, and automated deployment pipelines.
• Experience with webhooks, SOAP/XML services, and asynchronous messaging.
• Familiarity with automotive dealership systems, contract administration platforms, or financial services integrations.
• Experience coordinating integration testing and launches with external partners.
