Geologist

We are seeking a Field Geologist to support engineering and environmental consulting projects across the eastern United States. This role involves conducting fieldwork primarily related to mining and natural-resource development in states such as Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

• Supervise and direct drilling activities.
• Log rock core and sediment samples.
• Maintain accurate field documentation, including boring logs and field records.
• Collect geological data through field mapping and site reconnaissance.
• Survey field data locations.
• Organize, transport, split, and sample rock core and sediment specimens.
• Communicate field observations and results to the project manager daily.
• Assist with groundwater and environmental assessments.
• Prepare boring logs, cross-sections, figures, and photo logs.
• Support data management and QA/QC.

• Bachelors degree in Geology or related field.
• Experience logging rock core and other types of samples.
• Local residency within reasonable commuting distance of Marietta, Georgia.
• Ability to travel out-of-state for up to 10-day shifts.
• Schedule flexibility.

• Experience in environmental science and geotechnical work.
• Comfortable working in remote areas with minimal supervision.
• Safety-focused and detail-oriented.
• Willingness to work around active drilling operations and heavy equipment.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including consecutive 10-day-on, 4-day-off rotations.

The position involves working predominantly in the field, spending approximately 75% to 100% of the time on project sites. Fieldwork requires being outdoors around active drilling operations, heavy equipment, and uneven terrain. Travel-related expenses, including lodging and other approved project expenses, will be covered or reimbursed according to company policy. A meal per diem will be provided for qualifying out-of-town travel. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position available immediately, offering participation in employee benefits programs, including fully covered premiums for medical, dental, vision, and various insurance plans, as well as a 401k program with immediate vesting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Acworth, GA.

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $48.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
