Job Description
The Design Engineer will support the engineering team by translating customer concepts, sketches, and specifications into detailed technical drawings and production plans for fabrication, construction, and installation. This role collaborates with engineers, project managers, architects, manufacturers, vendors, and field personnel to develop accurate designs that meet customer requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations. Responsibilities include Revit modeling, design calculations, process documentation, design evolution tracking, and coordination of RFIs and submittals through Procore. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex design challenges, improving processes, and contributing to projects across multiple industries.

Responsibilities
  • Design Documentation & Process Development: Prepare detailed engineering drawings, construction documents, specifications, bills of materials, cost estimates, and engineering change documentation. Support product development, redesign projects, and technical documentation.
  • Design Evolution & Continuous Improvement: Evaluate designs for safety, functionality, manufacturability, structural integrity, and cost effectiveness. Analyze field data, identify design deficiencies, and recommend improvements to enhance product quality and performance.
  • Revit Modeling & Technical Drawings: Develop and modify detailed 2D and 3D drawings, layouts, elevations, sections, and shop drawings using Revit and other computer-aided design software. Incorporate dimensions, materials, field measurements, and installation requirements.
  • Design Calculations & Analysis: Interpret engineering concepts and perform calculations involving dimensions, angles, weights, component sizing, and costs to ensure designs meet applicable safety, quality, and performance requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Project Collaboration: Work with engineers, architects, contractors, vendors, project managers, and field teams to resolve design issues, coordinate RFIs and submittals through Procore, and deliver accurate project documentation.
  • Project & Supplier Coordination: Support requests for quotations, coordinate with suppliers, develop purchase specifications, and assist with project planning, risk identification, and construction administration.
  • Field Support & Quality: Conduct job site observations as needed to identify safety concerns, quality issues, nonconformance, and opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with project leaders to resolve challenges and ensure compliance with project requirements.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and online collaboration tools.
  • Professional engineering credentials, such as FE, EIT, PE, or equivalent industry certifications, are beneficial; willingness to pursue relevant qualifications is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% or as business needs require.
