Sr. Solution Architect – Data Protection

Location: New York City, NY
Duration: 2 Months
Work Arrangement: Onsite – 5 Days a Week
Extension: Possible long-term extension

Important Requirements

• Candidate must be local to New York City.
• Candidate must be available to work onsite 5 days a week for the entire assignment.
• No remote or hybrid option is available.
• The customer background check and onboarding process may take approximately 6 weeks after the offer is accepted.
• The candidate must complete both Dell and customer background checks, including fingerprinting, before starting.
• The start date depends on successful completion of all background checks.
• This position has been extended annually for the past 4 years, and there is a strong possibility of another extension for the right candidate.

Job ResponsibilitiesDaily Operations & Support

• Monitor and maintain Avamar and Data Domain environments.
• Monitor daily backup jobs and troubleshoot backup failures involving:
  • VM Snapshots
  • NAS
  • DB2
  • Oracle
  • File systems
• Handle customer restore requests.
• Create and provide DPA reports to customers.
• Monitor and verify required backups across multiple data centers.
• Manage NAS backups, including older-year backup data when required.
• Troubleshoot hardware issues such as disk and memory failures.
• Work with Dell support and field engineers to resolve hardware issues.
• Support Elastic Cloud troubleshooting, including certificate updates, disk replacements, and support cases.
• Perform Data Domain upgrades.
• Monitor CloudIQ and resolve open issues.
• Perform Avamar and DPA upgrades.
• Attend customer meetings to discuss backup-related issues.
• Participate in ServiceNow CAB meetings.

Project Responsibilities

The resource will also support multiple data protection and infrastructure projects, including:

Data Protection Capacity Expansion

• Expand and manage Data Domain storage capacity.
• Rebalance data across Data Domain arrays.
• Support design, deployment, and data migration activities.

Avamar Virtualization

• Design and implement virtualized Avamar environments.
• Help reduce hardware, power, and maintenance costs across data centers.
• Deploy virtual Avamar and Data Domain systems as required.

DPS Data Center Refresh Projects

• Design and implement new Data Domain DD9900 environments.
• Migrate data from older Data Domain systems to newer platforms.
• Load balance data across core Data Domain systems.

Data Migration

• Recall data from ECS storage.
• Migrate and rebalance data across Data Domain systems.

Collaboration

The resource will work closely with:

• Server teams
• Network teams
• Application teams
• Security teams
• Customer technical teams
• Dell Support and Field Engineers

Responsibilities may include coordinating Avamar VM builds, firewall requests, network ports, VLANs, cabling, backup schedules, retention requirements, and other infrastructure needs through ServiceNow.
