AML Compliance Officer - Digital Assets

A leading financial services firm is seeking an experienced AML Officer to lead and oversee its AML program for digital asset clients. This senior individual-contributor role will own key aspects of KYC, KYB, KYT, transaction monitoring, investigations, and SAR determinations.

The ideal candidate will have deep digital asset AML experience, hands-on expertise with Chainalysis, and strong knowledge of BSA/FinCEN, OFAC, and global AML regulations.

Key Responsibilities

AML Program Oversight

• Own and enhance KYC, KYB, and KYT frameworks for digital asset clients.
• Conduct risk-based CDD/EDD and ongoing customer monitoring.
• Manage periodic and triggered reviews, adverse media screening, and client risk assessments.
• Develop and maintain risk-based transaction monitoring policies, thresholds, and escalation procedures.
• Partner with Onboarding, Sales, Legal, Technology, and Operations to ensure compliant and scalable processes.

Transaction Monitoring & SARs

• Lead investigations from alert triage through escalation and final disposition.
• Determine when SAR filings are required and prepare high-quality SAR narratives in accordance with BSA/FinCEN requirements.
• Establish case management workflows, SLAs, documentation standards, and quality controls.
• Identify emerging digital asset typologies and recommend enhancements to monitoring rules and investigation procedures.
• Respond to regulatory and law enforcement requests, subpoenas, and information inquiries.

Blockchain Analytics / Chainalysis

• Serve as the firm's Chainalysis subject-matter expert, including KYT and Reactor.
• Lead implementation, configuration, alert-rule development, and risk-score calibration.
• Optimize Chainalysis workflows and integrate outputs into transaction monitoring and case management systems.
• Monitor developments in blockchain analytics and emerging digital asset risks.
• Evaluate additional analytics platforms such as Elliptic and TRM Labs as appropriate.

Qualifications

Required

• 5 years of AML compliance experience, including significant experience focused on digital assets / VASPs.
• Hands-on Chainalysis experience is mandatory, including KYT and Reactor; Business Data is a plus.
• Experience implementing, configuring, and calibrating Chainalysis monitoring rules and risk models.
• Strong knowledge of BSA/FinCEN, OFAC, FATF, and AML requirements applicable to digital assets.
