Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Performance Test Engineer to evaluate the scalability, stability, responsiveness, and reliability of software applications under varying workloads. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with performance testing tools such as Apache JMeter, workload modeling, scripting, test execution, performance monitoring, and bottleneck analysis. The candidate will collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure applications meet performance and scalability requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design and execute performance test plans, scenarios, and workload models based on business requirements.

• Develop and maintain performance test scripts using Apache JMeter.

• Perform load, stress, spike, endurance, and scalability testing.

• Configure Thread Groups, Controllers, Timers, Assertions, and Listeners in JMeter.

• Implement parameterization and correlation to handle dynamic values, session IDs, authentication tokens, and other runtime data.

• Configure ramp-up periods, concurrent users, throughput targets, and pacing to simulate realistic user behavior.

• Analyze response times, throughput, error rates, concurrent users, and percentile metrics such as the 90th and 95th percentiles.

• Monitor application and infrastructure resources, including CPU, memory, database performance, and network utilization.

• Identify performance bottlenecks and collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to determine root causes.

• Execute performance tests for REST APIs, web applications, and distributed systems.

• Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools.

• Analyze test results using JMeter reports, dashboards, and monitoring tools.

• Prepare detailed performance test reports with observations, bottlenecks, and optimization recommendations.

• Validate application behavior under peak load and long-duration execution.

• Collaborate with developers, database administrators, DevOps engineers, and product teams to improve performance.

• Maintain reusable scripts, test data, workload profiles, and performance testing documentation.

Required Technical Skills

• Performance Testing Tools: Apache JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar tools

• Testing Types: Load, Stress, Spike, Endurance, Scalability Testing

• Protocol Testing: HTTP/HTTPS, REST APIs, Web Services

• Scripting: Groovy, Java, JavaScript, or Python

• JMeter Components: Thread Groups, Controllers, Assertions, Timers, CSV Data Set Config, Regular Expression Extractor, JSON Extractor, and JSR223

• Correlation and Parameterization: Dynamic token extraction, session handling, test data management

• Performance Metrics: Response time, throughput, latency, error rate, percentiles, and concurrent users

• Monitoring Tools: New Relic, Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, or similar tools

• Database: SQL queries, query performance, database resource utilization

• CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions

• Version Control: Git, GitHub, Bitbucket

• Defect Tracking: Jira, Azure DevOps

Preferred Skills

• Experience conducting performance tests for high-traffic applications and APIs.

• Knowledge of workload modeling, capacity planning, and performance baselining.

• Experience analyzing CPU, memory, garbage collection, database, and network bottlenecks.

• Familiarity with cloud-based performance testing environments.

• Experience with distributed load generation and non-GUI test execution.

• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices architecture.

• Experience with application log analysis and production performance troubleshooting.

• Understanding of CI/CD quality gates and performance regression testing.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• Relevant experience in performance testing, performance engineering, or quality assurance.
