Design & Release Engineer - Body Exterior

Introduction

The role involves working as the feasibility leader between Design & Release Engineering and Studio Engineering to guide the creation and release of exterior body components. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and engineering compliance.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• 5 years of experience in Design & Release, Design Studio, Integration, or related experience in Body Exterior.
• Strong CAD skills, including the ability to draw sections and create 3D solutions.
• Experience with CATIA, 3DX, and TeamCenter.
• Good interpersonal skills and leadership behaviors.
• Systems/Integration experience working with cross-functional teams is a plus.
• Prior work experience at [client] or in [client's industry].

Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on a W2 basis.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a Vehicle Rear End Specialist, particularly with Liftgate, Tailgate, PU Box, Bumper, Fascia, or Taillamps.
• Ability to draw 2D feasibility sections to guide studio surface development.
• Knowledge of injection mold tooling, design, and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of sheet metal stamping and 2D CAD geometric compatibility/optimization.
• Experience working in a studio environment.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Establish engineering hard points to guide Studio’s Class A Surface Creation through Master Sections creation.
• Assess Studio Surface Release to meet engineering requirements, supported by Design & Release Engineers and Suppliers.
• Collaborate as part of a Co-Creation team to find solutions and address disconnects between Studio Surface and Engineering requirements.
