Lab Assistant

We are a national staffing firm and are currently seeking a Lab Assistant for a prominent client of ours. This position is located in Newark, DE, 19711. Details of the position are as follows: 
 
Job Description: 

• Pay: $19.05- 20.00/hr
• 6- month contract to start with the possibility of extension or conversion based on budget and performance.
• Monday- Friday, standard day shift, onsite position.
• Position will mainly be responsible for obtaining working knowledge of the Quality System and Laboratory Information System and supporting the daily operations of a microbiological testing laboratory, including receiving, unpacking, organizing, preparing, processing, and disposing of customer samples.
• Responsibilities also include organizing customer returns, performing routine laboratory equipment cleaning, assisting with laboratory inventory, restocking consumables and materials, operating a laser cutter under supervision, and properly disposing of microbial cultures, chemicals, recyclables, sharps, and glass.
• Position will also be responsible for complying with laboratory safety requirements, including safety stations, manuals, SOPs, and MSDS/SDS documentation, while performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

• High School Diploma, GED, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree is required.
• 0-2 years related experience in a laboratory setting.
• Must have the ability to work in a fast paced and team-oriented work environment.
• Effective communication and listening skills in a teamwork environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects with a strong attention to detail.
