Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled API Automation Test Engineer to design, develop, and maintain automated API testing solutions to ensure the functionality, reliability, security, and performance of software applications. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with REST APIs, Java, REST Assured, Postman, automation frameworks, and CI/CD integration. The candidate will collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and product teams to deliver high-quality APIs and reliable integrations.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated API test scripts using REST Assured with Java.

• Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end API testing.

• Validate REST API endpoints, HTTP methods, status codes, headers, request payloads, and response bodies.

• Test API authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and API keys.

• Validate JSON and XML responses against expected schemas and business rules.

• Implement data-driven API automation using external test data sources.

• Develop reusable API automation frameworks using TestNG, JUnit, and Maven.

• Validate positive, negative, boundary, and exception-handling scenarios.

• Test API integrations between microservices and third-party systems.

• Perform database validation using SQL queries to verify backend data consistency.

• Execute API tests using Postman collections and automated command-line runners.

• Integrate API automation suites into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitHub Actions.

• Analyze test execution results, investigate failures, and report defects using Jira.

• Perform API performance and load testing using Apache JMeter.

• Maintain test documentation, reusable utilities, test data, and execution reports.

• Collaborate with developers to identify root causes and resolve API defects.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, requirement reviews, sprint planning, and release validation.

• Familiarity with Swagger/OpenAPI documentation.

• Experience with mock services and test data management.

• Knowledge of Docker and cloud-based testing environments.

• Understanding of API security testing, including common OWASP API risks.

• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD quality gates.

• Familiarity with AI coding assistants such as Cursor or Claude.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• Relevant experience in API testing, test automation, or software quality engineering.
