Senior Payroll Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join a collaborative payroll team on a contract-to-hire basis. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong multi-state payroll experience who is comfortable managing complex payrolls and can quickly step in and contribute.

Responsibilities

• Process high-volume, multi-state payroll accurately and on time
• Manage payroll deductions, garnishments, direct deposits, tax deductions, and employee setup
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and data inconsistencies
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and wage requirements
• Review completed payrolls for accuracy and identify potential issues
• Work with third-party payroll providers to resolve payroll and data issues
• Assist with payroll system configurations, integrations, and file feeds
• Support and troubleshoot payroll-related questions
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and clients
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiencies
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll processing experience
• Strong experience processing large-volume, multi-state payroll
• Knowledge of payroll taxes, deductions, garnishments, and payroll compliance
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and get up to speed quickly
• Experience with ADP and/or Paycor preferred
• PEO, HR outsourcing, or multi-client payroll experience strongly preferred
• CPP certification preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
