Piping Designer

About the Role

As a Senior Piping Designer, you will play a key role in delivering piping design solutions for advanced industrial manufacturing and pharmaceutical facilities. You will work closely with engineering teams across multiple offices, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within scope, and according to client requirements. This role requires strong expertise in 3D piping design software, technical leadership, and experience working in complex EPC or engineering consulting environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed piping layouts, models, and design documentation for industrial and pharmaceutical facilities.
• Create and maintain 3D piping models using Hexagon SmartPlant 3D (S3D) and Autodesk Plant 3D.
• Review and incorporate vendor drawings, equipment layouts, and client specifications.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation teams.
• Support project planning, scheduling, and progress tracking activities.
• Identify and communicate scope changes, design modifications, and project risks.
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, codes, and project requirements.
• Participate in model reviews, design reviews, and constructability assessments.
• Prepare estimates and support project execution activities.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to technical development within the team.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Associate Degree (AA) in Computer-Aided Drafting & Design (CADD), Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of piping design experience.
• Advanced proficiency in:
• • Hexagon SmartPlant 3D (S3D)
  • Autodesk Plant 3D
• Strong experience with industrial facility or pharmaceutical plant design projects.
• Experience reviewing vendor drawings and integrating vendor equipment data.
• Understanding of piping layouts, equipment arrangements, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Ability to manage assigned project deliverables and meet project schedules.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Pharmaceutical facility project experience.
• EPC, engineering consulting, or multi-office project execution experience.
• Exposure to earned value management and project progress measurement.
• Previous mentoring or team leadership experience.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and best practices.

Local proximity to Cincinnati, OH (preferred but not required).
