This role is responsible for ensuring accuracy, accountability, and clarity in all financial reporting while helping leadership make smart, data-driven decisions. You’ll lead and develop a small accounting team, maintain clean books, and build better visibility into financial performance and job costing.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys both structure and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable, billing, bank reconciliations, and the general ledger.
· Oversee month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
· Integrate operational and accounting data from Service Titan to QuickBooks; reconcile job cost and margin reports.
· Develop internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures for efficiency and compliance.
· Provide leadership, mentoring, and task oversight for a team of four accounting staff.
· Produce clear, actionable monthly financial statements and dashboards.
· Monitor KPIs for cash flow, job profitability, and operational performance.
· Collaborate with management to prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses.
· Coordinate with tax preparers, auditors, and banks as needed.
· Continuously identify opportunities to streamline systems, reduce errors, and improve reporting clarity.
Skills & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including team leadership.
· Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and Service Titan (or similar service-industry platforms).
· Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
· Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
· High integrity, professionalism, and ownership mindset.
· Strong Excel and reporting skills; Power BI or dashboard experience a plus.
· Prior experience in a service or construction-related business preferred.

Objective 4: Build and Lead a Strong Finance Team
· KR1: Conduct weekly one-on-ones and quarterly performance reviews.
· KR2: Cross-train all team members to ensure coverage across accounting functions.
· KR3: Maintain <10% turnover in the accounting team.
Ideal DISC Profile
The best Controller for this environment should have a High C, Moderate S, and Balanced D:
C (Conscientiousness) – High
Precise, analytical, and systematic. Double-checks everything to ensure books are accurate and compliant.
S (Steadiness) – Moderate-High
Calm under pressure, consistent, and dependable. Keeps the team steady and processes on track.
D (Dominance) – Moderate
Confident enough to drive accountability and deadlines, but not domineering. Works well with leadership and operations.
I (Influence) – Low-Moderate

In short: A High-C / High-S / Moderate-D profile — organized, reliable, structured, and assertive when needed. This kind of person doesn’t crave chaos; they create order and trust through consistent results.
Compensation
· Competitive base salary (commensurate with experience)
· Annual bonus opportunity tied to key performance metrics (accuracy, timeliness, cash flow improvement, team performance)
· Health insurance, PTO, and professional growth opportunities
