Schedule: 1st Shift | 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
Work Setting: Onsite manufacturing facility

About the Opportunity

MMC Group is seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined Fabricator / Machine Operator for a manufacturing team in Harlan, IA. In this role, you will set up and operate metal fabrication equipment, work from blueprints and production instructions, and inspect components to ensure quality and accuracy.

Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience is preferred. Training will be provided on specialized equipment.

What You’ll Do

• Set up, adjust, and operate CNC press brakes, metal rollers, punch presses, shears, saws, drills, grinders, and other production equipment.
• Read and follow blueprints, technical drawings, work orders, and production instructions.
• Check dimensions and product quality using calipers, micrometers, squares, and gauges.
• Inspect materials and finished components for accuracy and compliance with specifications.
• Make machine adjustments and perform basic troubleshooting.
• Accurately record production quantities, inventory transactions, and labor hours.
• Use computerized production and inventory systems to access work orders and material information.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes after completing required training and certification.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow established safety procedures.

What You’ll Bring

• Current residence within 30 miles of Harlan, IA.
• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and operating instructions.
• Basic math skills, including measurements, fractions, decimals, and metric conversions.
• Dependability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently and with a team.
• Willingness to complete in-house forklift and overhead crane certification training.

Preferred Experience

• One to two years of manufacturing, metal fabrication, or machine operation experience.
• Experience with CNC press brakes, punch presses, metal rollers, or similar equipment.
• Familiarity with precision measuring tools.
• Experience using ERP or computerized production systems.
• Welding experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This position requires extended periods of standing and walking, bending, reaching, stooping, repetitive movements, and lifting or handling materials. You must be comfortable working around moving machinery in a manufacturing environment with moderate to loud noise and potential exposure to metal chips, coolants, and airborne particles. Proper use of protective equipment and adherence to safety procedures are required.
