We are looking for a Cost & Inventory Manager to join a manufacturing organization in Ballston Spa, New York on a Contract basis. This role will focus on resolving inventory classification and valuation challenges, while partnering closely with finance leadership to improve the accuracy of inventory reporting. The ideal candidate brings hands-on manufacturing inventory accounting expertise and can work effectively in an older ERP environment with limited automation. This assignment offers flexibility in schedule, with hybrid or primarily remote arrangements available depending on the candidate’s ability to get up to speed quickly.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with the Director of Finance to identify and correct issues affecting how inventory is categorized and recorded across the business.
• Review inventory balances and transaction flows to determine the proper assignment of materials, work in progress, and related valuation buckets.
• Analyze costing and inventory data to support accurate reporting for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods within a manufacturing setting.
• Investigate unresolved valuation discrepancies, including matters related to currency impact, and recommend practical accounting solutions.
• Assess available reports and system outputs in the current ERP environment to improve visibility into inventory activity and accuracy.
• Provide hands-on support during the initial onboarding period onsite, including coordination around system access and setup as needed.
• Recommend process adjustments that strengthen inventory reconciliation and support more reliable month-end and ongoing financial reporting.• Strong background in inventory accounting within a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience with inventory analysis, reconciliation, and annual inventory processes.
• Practical knowledge of work-in-progress accounting and inventory valuation methods.
• Ability to work effectively in an older ERP system and navigate less automated workflows.
• Experience investigating inventory discrepancies and resolving accounting classification issues.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret transaction detail and recommend corrective actions.
• Comfortable working independently in a contract assignment with flexibility for either permanent or part-time scheduling.
