Backend Developer

Location: Hybrid - Wilmington, DE; McLean, VA; Richmond, VA; or New York, NY

The Project
The team is migrating Client customers onto bank platforms, supporting retail bank products (checking, savings, money market, IRAs, CDs). It's a massive batch data migration, up to half a billion transactions, run in scheduled migration windows (next one in November). This is not real-time or streaming. The project is at the tail end and already built; work now is customizations, enhancements, and performance tuning for upcoming loads. The hire replaces a contractor who left and joins one of Swati's 3 teams (9 teams total on the project).
This is a backend developer role focusing on Java, Scala, and Spark. The position involves hands-on work with AWS data pipeline technologies including S3, Glue, Step Functions, and Lambda, within an event-based architecture.

Requirements:

• Experience with Java, Scala, and Spark
• AWS Pipeline Experience: Hands-on with S3, Glue, Step Functions, and Lambda across multi-stage data pipelines
• Event-Based Architecture: Understand EventBridge rules and S3 event notifications, and how to handle reruns from event-based triggers
• Step Functions: Understand state machine scheduling and downstream job synchronization
• Glue and Scaling: Comfortable with Glue job configuration and scaling
• Data Quality: Experience building validation components for data security; understands schema drift and backfill handling
