Prepare and assemble: Fold letters, stuff envelopes, add inserts (such as flyers or magazines), and seal packages by hand or using automated machinery.
Weigh and measure: Determine correct weight and postage rates using scales and rate charts.
Affix postage: Apply stamps, labels, barcodes, or use postage meters to mark items.
Verify addresses: Check that recipient addresses are accurate, legible, and formatted properly for postal delivery.
Operate equipment: Set up and run folding, inserting, sealing, tying, and sorting machines.
Clear jams: Troubleshoot and clear paper or package jams in sortation and production equipment.
