Success in this role requires strong technical insurance expertise, sound judgment, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities without constant supervision.
This position is particularly well suited for an experienced commercial insurance professional who values workplace flexibility while maintaining a high level of accountability, productivity, and client service.
Key Responsibilities
  • Independently manage and service a high-volume portfolio of commercial insurance accounts, ensuring accuracy, responsiveness, and timely completion of all assigned activities.
  • Oversee the commercial policy renewal process, beginning preparation approximately 90 days before expiration and coordinating necessary documentation, coverage reviews, loss information, and market submissions.
  • Conduct renewal follow-ups approximately 60 days before expiration to obtain outstanding information and maintain established timelines.
  • Prepare and coordinate renewal proposals, coverage recommendations, and binding requirements at least seven days before policy expiration, while accommodating accounts with shorter deadlines.
  • Utilize established carrier relationships and commercial insurance expertise to obtain competitive quotes, evaluate coverage options, and resolve underwriting matters.
  • Communicate directly with insurance carriers, managing general agents (MGAs), wholesalers, and underwriters regarding submissions, endorsements, policy modifications, renewals, and binding requirements.
  • Independently prepare and process commercial insurance quotes for new and existing accounts using appropriate carrier systems and quoting platforms.
  • Review commercial policies, endorsements, applications, and coverage details to identify discrepancies, coverage concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate client records, policy information, premium details, renewal schedules, and communication histories within the agency management system.
  • Process authorized client payments and ensure transactions are properly documented.
  • Provide knowledgeable guidance to commercial insurance clients regarding policy servicing, coverage questions, documentation requirements, and account-related matters.
  • Support new commercial business opportunities by gathering underwriting information, preparing applications, obtaining quotes, and coordinating submissions through binding.
  • Recognize opportunities to recommend additional commercial coverages and support cross-selling initiatives.
  • Assist with prospective client follow-up, referral opportunities, and new business development activities.
  • Maintain accurate production records for new policies, renewals, and additional coverage placements.
  • Prioritize competing responsibilities, anticipate potential issues, and independently resolve routine servicing and underwriting challenges.
  • Maintain consistent productivity, communication, and accountability while working in both remote and office environments.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of seven years of commercial lines insurance experience. Candidates with fewer than seven years of relevant commercial insurance experience will not meet the minimum requirement.
  • Active Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance license.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial insurance policies, coverage structures, endorsements, underwriting requirements, and industry terminology.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with commercial insurance quoting, renewals, policy servicing, and account management.
  • Strong familiarity with commercial insurance carriers, MGAs, wholesalers, and underwriting processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a commercial book of business with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to assume responsibility for established accounts and contribute immediately with minimal to no additional training.
  • Proven experience managing high account volumes, multiple deadlines, and complex commercial insurance transactions.
  • Strong technical proficiency with insurance agency management systems, carrier portals, and commercial quoting platforms.
  • Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and time-management abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with clients, carriers, underwriters, and internal team members.
  • Ability to identify and resolve policy servicing issues, underwriting concerns, and renewal challenges proactively.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, accountability, and sound decision-making.
  • Ability to maintain productivity, responsiveness, and consistent performance in a hybrid work arrangement.
  • Willingness and ability to work both remotely and in-office as required.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Established experience working directly with multiple commercial insurance carriers and underwriting markets.
  • Advanced commercial coverage knowledge and the ability to recognize coverage gaps or potential client exposures.
  • Experience managing the complete commercial account lifecycle, from initial quoting through renewals and ongoing servicing.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying cross-selling opportunities and supporting commercial account growth.
  • Experience with new business submissions, prospect development, and referral follow-up.
