SQL DBA

Position Overview

This role requires one day per week in our Charlotte office, specifically on Tuesdays. Applicants should be based in the Charlotte, NC area. 

Key Responsibilities

• Address technical requests from end users of products and systems.
• Swiftly analyze data to identify and resolve technical issues.
• Install and configure SQL database setups.
• Implement database schemas, tables, views, and data objects in line with best practices and company standards.
• Ensure compliance with Enterprise Query Standards.
• Collaborate with application support and development teams to implement data changes according to change management policies.
• Work with the application support team on quarterly releases.
• Review and optimize queries for scalability, availability, and efficiency.
• Manage the migration of changes through development life cycle stages.
• Evaluate new SQL Server features and changes before version upgrades.
• Optimize SQL code using execution plans and system DMVs.
• Maintain database system diagrams and operational documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in MS SQL Server administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell, and Always ON Availability Groups.
• Experience with SQL query evaluation using execution plans and DMVs.
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask.
• Capability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with data warehousing and WhereScape Red is an advantage.
