This is a Labor and Delivery (L&D) RN travel contract position at a short-term acute care rural hospital. The travel nurse must be able to work independently, as this position is located in a rural hospital where only one Labor & Delivery nurse may be scheduled per shift. In situations where a single L&D nurse is staffed, the charge nurse will serve as L&D backup, or an on-call team member will be available for support. The facility strives to staff according to AWHONN guidelines whenever possible; however, due to the nature of a rural healthcare setting, the nurse will be expected to manage labor patients while also caring for OB triage and outpatient patients as needed. While floating to other units, such as Medical-Surgical or the Emergency Department, is not required, the nurse is expected to assist with postpartum and nursery care when patient volumes and staffing needs warrant.
