Staff Accountant

CONTRACT: Staff Accountant (11074)

Our client, located in Frisco, is looking for a Staff Accountant to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. 

This position is fully remote outside of quarterly meetings.

Keys: 

• 3+ years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on full-cycle Accounts Receivable, billing, and collections
• Experience with customer invoicing, cash application, account reconciliations, and resolving billing discrepancies
• Experience with accounts payable data entry, invoice processing, and providing general accounting support
• Advanced Excel skills required (VLOOKUPs, PivotTables); NetSuite experience highly preferred
• Highly detail-oriented and organized, with strong communication and customer service skills
• Oil & gas industry experience preferred

Position Overview:
The AR-focused Staff Accountant supports the accounting team by managing the full cycle accounts receivable process, accounts payable entry and customer invoicing. Reporting to the Sr. Billing Manager, this role requires exceptional attention to detail, accurate transaction processing, and proactive resolution of discrepancies.

Qualifications:
• Associate's degree in accounting finance, or related field required, Bachelor's degree is preferred
• Three or more years of relevant accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables, data sorting).
• Strong proficiency in ERP and accounting systems (preferably NetSuite).

Key Responsibilities:
• Generate and issue customer invoices, statements, and credit memos accurately and on schedule.
• Process incoming payments via ACH, wire, check, and credit card, ensuring proper cash application against open invoices.
• Monitor aging reports to identify overdue accounts and proactively follow up with customers on past-due balances.
• Resolve billing discrepancies, customer queries, and payment disputes in coordination with sales or project teams.
• Perform accounts payable data entry and related accounting support.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Working knowledge of accounting principles, fair credit practices, and collection regulations.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong data-entry accuracy in high-volume, deadline-driven work.
• Ability to calculate, post, reconcile, and review financial records while protecting sensitive information.
• Customer service orientation and effective communication skills. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Oil and gas industry experience is optional but highly desirable
