Manufacturing Buyer / Planner CNC Machine Shop

Pay: $30.00$35.00 per hour (DOE)
Schedule: M-F: 7:00 AM 3:30 PM | Onsite

Location: Hawthorne, Ca

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Buyer / Planner with a background in CNC machining, aerospace, or precision manufacturing.

This position combines purchasing and production planning to keep CNC machining operations running efficiently. The ideal candidate understands the materials, tooling, outside processing, and production scheduling requirements of a machine shop.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Materials Management

• Purchase raw materials, including aluminum, steel, titanium, and other metals, according to engineering specifications.

• Source CNC cutting tools, inserts, end mills, drills, and other machining supplies.

• Coordinate outside processing services, including anodizing, plating, heat treating, passivation, and NDI.

• Manage purchase orders, supplier relationships, pricing, lead times, and material availability.

• Monitor inventory levels, material certifications, and supplier performance.

Production Planning & Scheduling

• Plan and schedule production work orders across CNC mills, lathes, and 5-axis machining centers.

• Coordinate material availability, machine capacity, tooling, and outside processing to meet production deadlines.

• Track work in progress (WIP), identify potential delays, and help resolve production bottlenecks.

• Maintain accurate production information, lead times, and inventory records in ERP/MRP systems.

• Collaborate with machinists, programmers, engineering, and quality teams to support efficient production.

Qualifications

Required:

• 3+ years of purchasing and/or production planning experience in CNC machining, aerospace manufacturing, precision manufacturing, or a closely related environment.

• Working knowledge of CNC machining processes, including milling and turning.

• Experience purchasing manufacturing raw materials, CNC tooling, and/or coordinating outside processing services.

• Experience using ERP/MRP systems such as JobBOSS, E2, Epicor, Global Shop, ProShop, or similar.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, material specifications, and manufacturing requirements, including GD&T.

• Strong organizational, supplier management, problem-solving, and Excel skills.

Preferred:

• Experience coordinating both purchasing and production scheduling in a CNC machine shop.

• Familiarity with aerospace quality standards, including AS9100, AS9102, and material certification requirements.

• Experience supporting 5-axis machining operations and production capacity planning.

• APICS/CPIM certification or related manufacturing planning experience.
