Mon - Fri, 5 am - 1:00 pm, 40 hours per week

Duties:

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Senior Superintendent of Plant, incumbent mows, rakes, and edges lawns, trims bushes and trees, and cleans up debris as required. Incumbent is also responsible for the care and maintenance of tools.

Essential Functions:

•    Thoroughly performs general inspections at the beginning of each shift to establish task priorities. Provides accurate information to customers and supervisors regarding work status 15% 
•    Properly prepares and maintains chemical solutions as needed and within established guidelines to ensure their safety 15% 
•    Maintains knowledge of sprinkler systems, sizes and fittings. 10% 
•    Maintains equipment in good working condition to ensure safe and productive completion of assignments. Reports broken or malfunctioning equipment to management in a timely manner. Uses tools in a safe and appropriate manner 10% 
•    Effectively removes waste, transporting via electric carts, and storing in the appropriate holding area for pick up 25% 
•    Effectively mows, edges, rakes and weeds assigned areas. Follows standards for proper care and maintenance of trees and shrubs and prunes trees and shrubs for best growing habits 25%

Skills:

Required Qualifications:
•    One year of experience in grounds maintenance or gardening; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
•    Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license
•    Must be available to work alternate work schedules and overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
•    Employment contingent upon completion of satisfactory background investigation. Position is subject to the California DMV's "Pull Notice System" and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
•    Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Education:

High School Diploma or GED
