Loan Officer

Job Summary

Evaluate, authorize or recommend approval of loans specific to your expertise (i.e.: commercial, real estate, agricultural, consumer, credit). Advise borrowers on financial status and methods of payments. Develops credit relations with customers and promotes other banking services.

Accountabilities

• Evaluates loan applications and documentation by confirming credit worthiness

• Analyze applicants’ financial status, credit and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans

• Improves loan applications and documentation by informing applicant of additional requirements

• Explain to customers the different types of loans and credit options that are available, as well as the terms of those services

• Approves loans within specified limits and refer loan applications outside those limits to loan committee for approval

• Completes loan contracts by explaining provisions to applicant; obtaining signatures and notarizations; collecting fees

• Review and update credit and loan files

• Review loan agreements to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to policy

• Compute payment schedules

• Stay informed of new types of loans and other financial services and products in order to better meet customers’ needs

• Helps customers by answering questions and responding to requests

• Negotiate payment arrangements with customers who have delinquent loans

• Maintains customer confidence by keeping loan information confidential

• Meet with customers at off-site locations
