About this job
Job Description
You begin by scanning daily bank activity, posting and coding every transaction precisely to the right general ledger accounts and customers. From there, you prepare recurring and adjusting journal entries—covering items like commissions accruals, installation labor, subcontractor expenses, and even battery allocations—so the books reflect reality. Monthly, you reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure the ledger is accurate end-to-end.
Midday, you pivot to receivables. You reconcile the A/R aging and partner with sales and operations to chase outstanding amounts. You uphold GAAP by recognizing revenue only once installations are complete and other defined financial triggers occur. You reclassify deferred or unearned revenue as needed, and you assemble documentation that supports clean cutoff and tight matching of revenue with related costs.
In the afternoon, you manage payables and vendors. You enter and reconcile material invoices with correct job codes and verify receipts before approval. You process payments to subcontractors and service providers, confirming W-9s and checking for 1099 eligibility where appropriate. You reconcile vendor statements, clear discrepancies, and support month-end AP accruals for project-related costs still outstanding.
As the day closes, you turn to payroll and commissions. You review commission data from internal systems tied to job milestones and contract terms, coordinating with project management and sales operations to validate eligibility for initial and final payouts. You maintain internal schedules that track approvals and timing, record every commission to the correct job or customer, and ensure amounts tie back to payroll disbursements. You also post payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll-related accounts monthly. All of this feeds a timely, accurate monthly close.
