Keep sawmill production moving by maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment with precision and urgency. Work directly with the Shop Supervisor and operations to minimize downtime and maximize safety.

What You Will Tackle

• Install, service, and repair sawmill machinery and production assets.
• Rapidly troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, diesel/gas, and electrical issues.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns.
• Conduct safety and efficiency inspections on equipment.
• Accurately log service actions and track parts consumption.
• Coordinate with operators to prioritize and complete repairs efficiently.
• Follow all safety rules, including strict lockout/tagout procedures.

Must-Haves

• 18+ years of age.
• 1–3 years of heavy equipment mechanical experience.
• Hands-on knowledge of hydraulics, diesel and gas engines, and electrical wiring.
• Ability to independently diagnose and repair mechanical failures.
• Capable of frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Owns and brings a basic set of tools suitable for the job.
• Consistent attendance and a strong safety focus.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience as a heavy equipment mechanic; sawmill or forestry equipment preferred.
• Depth in diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Proven troubleshooting and independent repair capability.
• Welding and fabrication skills.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
• Comfort working in outdoor and industrial environments.

Physical and Work Environment

• Industrial plant setting with exposure to moving mechanical parts and moderate to high noise.
• Frequent lifting and movement of equipment parts, tools, and materials up to 50 pounds.
• Exposure to outdoor temperatures, weather conditions, wood waste/dust, oils, and lubricants.
• Regular standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stair climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching.
• Work in tight spaces, confined areas, and awkward positions to access machinery.
• Visual demands: close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Schedule

Swing shift: Monday–Thursday, 1:30 PM–12:00 AM (flexible and open to discussion).
