About this job
Job Description
Please read before applying: This position REQUIRES some overnight out-of-state trips.
If you are looking for local-only, home-every-night work, this is not the right fit.
We’re a growing medical waste services company looking for an experienced Class A CDL Driver for a full-time position. Most of your work will be local and regional out of Newark, DE. You must also be available for scheduled overnight runs to destinations such as Ohio, and Connecticut.
When you’re not on a Class A run, you’ll help with local routes, box truck routes, or other driving needs. If you want variety instead of the same route every day, and you’re okay with some time on the road, this could be a great fit.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Safely operating Class A commercial vehicles in accordance with company, DOT, and FMCSA requirements
- Completing local and regional routes, pickups, and deliveries
- Completing some scheduled overnight and multi-day out-of-state runs
- Conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and reporting vehicle or safety concerns
- Safely loading, securing, transporting, and unloading materials
- Following proper procedures for transporting and handling regulated materials
- Maintaining accurate driver logs, trip records, delivery documentation, and other required paperwork
- Following Hours of Service and all applicable DOT requirements
- Communicating with dispatch and management about schedules, route changes, delays, or issues
- Providing professional, courteous service to customers
- Operating non-CDL box trucks and assisting with local routes when needed
- Following company safety procedures and keeping assigned vehicles clean and maintained
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL
- Minimum 3 years of recent Class A driving experience
- Available for overnight and multi-day out-of-state regional trips
- Hazmat endorsement required
- Safe driving record
- Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations
- Experience with pre-trip/post-trip inspections and driver logs
- Comfortable with local, regional, and long-distance highway driving
- Willing to operate non-CDL box trucks and help with local routes
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently
- Good communication, time-management, and navigation skills
- Able to meet all applicable DOT and company requirements
Is This Job Right for You?
This is not a full over-the-road position. You won’t be gone for weeks at a time, and most of your days will be local or regional. But overnight and multi-day travel is a regular, required part of the job, not an occasional extra. If you’re an experienced Class A driver who wants steady full-time work, variety, and a schedule that’s mostly local with some planned time on the road, we’d like to hear from you.
