Service Tech/Shop Hand

(Houston, TX): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Service Technician to assist in multiple areas of production, with opportunities for training and advancement into skilled positions. This hourly, non-exempt position requires a willingness to learn, technical aptitude, and adherence to established safety and quality policies.

Essential Duties

- Operate forklifts and cranes to move tools and materials; training will be provided.

- Load and unload trucks.

- Move tools on and off storage racks.

- Perform painting and grinding tasks.

- Maintain general cleanliness and organization of the shop and yard.

- Perform surface finishing operations, including shot peening, cold rolling, and phosphating.

- Follow all established safety procedures and quality standards.

- Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency alarms, crane warning signals, and moving vehicles within the warehouse.

- Record required information accurately on applicable documentation.

- Communicate instructions, tool-related issues, and tool priority requirements effectively.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Skills

- GED or high school diploma preferred.

- No prior work experience required.

- Willingness to learn new skills and production processes.

- Technical aptitude and ability to work in a production environment.

- Ability to follow safety procedures and established quality requirements.

- Ability to hear and recognize emergency alarms and warning signals from cranes and moving vehicles.

- Ability to understand and communicate verbal instructions and tool-related issues.

- Ability to complete required written documentation accurately.

- Ability to clearly read measurements and stenciling on tools.

- Good depth perception and visual focus.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to sit approximately 5% of the workday and stand approximately 95% of the workday.

- Ability to walk around the shop for approximately 65% of standing time.

- Frequent use of hands and fingers, approximately 85% of the workday.

- Ability to maintain balance while working with tools.

- Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch over tools, approximately 25% of the time.

- Ability to rarely climb stairs or ladders or crawl.

- Ability to occasionally carry or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds; a crane is available for heavier items.

- Ability to work in an industrial environment with occasional exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures and potential occupational hazards.

- Ability to comply with applicable industrial hygiene and safety programs, including hearing conservation, respiratory protection, and Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) requirements.
