Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support a busy clinical team in a correctional healthcare setting. This is a full-time, 26-week contract role working Monday–Friday days. The ideal Medical Assistant is organized, patient-focused, and comfortable working closely with Registered Nurses, physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners to keep patient flow running smoothly.

What you will be doing:

• Room patients, take and document vital signs, and report abnormal findings to the RN
• Assist providers with exams, procedures, and treatments, including room and supply setup
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection
• Administer vaccines and IM/SubQ injections as directed
• Complete EKGs, peak flow testing, ear lavages, dressing changes, and basic wound care
• Support RNs with telemedicine visits, scheduling, supply coordination, and DME distribution
• Document all patient care accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
• Maintain infection control and keep exam rooms stocked and ready

What you must have:

• Medical Assistant certification or registration (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
• Previous hands-on Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting
• Proven skills in vital signs, phlebotomy, injections, EKGs, and wound care
• Experience documenting in an EHR
• Ability to recognize and escalate abnormal findings
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to pass a background check and facility security clearance

Other Information:

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
• Contract length: 26 weeks
• Background check and facility clearance required
