Plumber Apprentice

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking Sheet Metal Helper for a temp-to-hire opportunity. In this entry-level role, you will assist experienced sheet metal mechanics and fabricators with the installation, assembly, and preparation of sheet metal components, HVAC ductwork, and architectural metal systems. This is an excellent stepping stone for individuals looking to prove their work ethic and earn a permanent spot on the team while gaining hands-on trade experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Job Site Preparation: Unload, transport, and organize sheet metal materials, ductwork, tools, and equipment across work areas.
• Fabrication & Installation Support: Assist mechanics with measuring, cutting, bending, assembling, and hanging sheet metal ducting and fittings.
• Tool & Equipment Operation: Safely operate hand and power tools (e.g., metal snips, shears, drills, grinders, rivets, and crimpers) under supervision.
• Job Site Safety & Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by sweeping debris, clearing scrap materials, and storing tools properly.
• Assembly & Sealing: Apply sealants, mastic, and tape to duct joints; secure insulation and hardware as directed.
• Blueprint Assistance: Learn to read and interpret basic job specifications, drawings, and shop blueprints alongside senior technicians.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all OSHA guidelines, company safety policies, and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Previous construction, trade, or general labor experience preferred, but willing to train entry-level candidates with a strong work ethic.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Basic familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and tape measures.
• Physical Capability:
• • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Comfortable standing, bending, reaching, climbing ladders, and working in various environmental conditions (indoor/outdoor).
• Communication: Strong listening skills and ability to take direction from lead mechanics and supervisors.
