Tax and Insurance Escrow Specialist

We are looking for a detail-oriented Tax and Insurance Escrow Specialist to support mortgage servicing operations in the Suburbs of Chicago. This role focuses on coordinating escrow-related activities tied to property taxes, insurance coverage, flood compliance, and account maintenance while ensuring accurate loan records and responsive service. The ideal candidate brings experience in mortgage or financial operations and can manage transactional work, exception follow-up, and borrower or vendor communication with a high degree of accuracy.

Responsibilities:

• Manage disbursements for property taxes, insurance premiums, and other escrow-related payments in alignment with servicing requirements and timelines.

• Review exception reporting for taxes, insurance, flood coverage, and escrow accounts, then investigate and resolve outstanding issues promptly.

• Update and maintain loan servicing records to ensure tax, insurance, flood, and escrow data remains complete and accurate.

• Examine incoming bills, policy documents, renewals, cancellation notices, and related correspondence, applying updates to borrower accounts as needed.

• Communicate with borrowers, insurance representatives, taxing agencies, vendors, and clients to gather documentation and address account discrepancies.

• Assist with annual escrow analysis, borrower notifications, and ongoing account adjustments related to escrow administration.

• Handle lender-placed insurance tasks according to established procedures and applicable client or investor guidelines.

• Track non-escrowed loans for tax payments and insurance compliance, following up on any missing coverage or payment exceptions.

• Prepare servicing reports, written correspondence, and account notes while documenting interactions and supporting quality review activities.

• Use servicing platforms, workflow tools, and reporting systems to complete daily work efficiently and contribute to continuous process improvements.

• 3+ years of experience in mortgage servicing, escrow operations, tax and insurance administration, banking operations, financial services, or a related field.
• At least 12 months of hands-on experience supporting mortgage, escrow, insurance, or loan administration functions.
• Familiarity with property tax processing, insurance tracking, escrow account maintenance, or broader mortgage servicing activities.
• Ability to follow documented procedures, compliance standards, and client-specific servicing expectations with close attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach to working with internal and external stakeholders.
• Solid organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple account issues simultaneously.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, along with comfort using servicing systems and workflow technology.
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are a plus.
