Payroll Tax Compliance

Our client in Manhattan is looking to hire a Payroll Tax Compliance contractor to join their team.

Project Overview Work directly with Payroll Director in conducting a comprehensive review of payroll tax compliance processes, resolving outstanding payroll tax notices, reconciling tax accounts, and implementing preventive controls to reduce future compliance risks, penalties, and agency inquiries.

Key Responsibilities • Review and resolve federal, state, and local payroll tax notices. • Reconcile payroll tax filings, payments, and agency balances. • Identify root causes of recurring tax notices and compliance issues. • Coordinate with tax agencies and payroll providers when needed. • Develop recommendations and process improvements to prevent future issues. • Proactively review and reconcile Forms 941, W2, and State/Local tax filings

Expected Deliverables • Resolved tax notices. • Payroll tax reconciliation report • Root cause analysis and corrective action plan. • Payroll tax process documentation • Future-state compliance improvement recommendations and SOP Preferred

Qualifications • 5+ years of payroll tax compliance experience. • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. • Experience with payroll tax notice resolution and agency correspondence. • Experience with Dayforce, ADP, Workday, UKG, or similar payroll systems. • Strong reconciliation and analytical skills. • FPC/CPP certifications preferred. • Required to work in NY Headquarters at least 3 days/week.
