About the Role:
Peace of Mind Residential Care in Fredericksburg, VA is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. Responsibilities:
- Provide daily living assistance including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration
- Support individuals with disabilities in achieving personal goals and maintaining independence
- Implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and document progress accurately
- Transport and accompany clients to medical appointments, community activities, and recreational outings
- Foster a safe, supportive, and positive residential environment
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, family members, and healthcare professionals
- Respond appropriately to behavioral challenges using approved crisis intervention techniques
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Prior experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Strong interpersonal skills with a patient, empathetic, and person-centered approach
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
