Aquent is partnering with a leading financial services organization dedicated to empowering individuals and institutions through innovative technology and robust security. Join a team that operates at the forefront of digital transformation, building mission-critical platforms that ensure secure, high-performance interactions for millions of users.

Unleash Your Engineering Prowess in Identity & Access Management

Are you a seasoned Java Software Engineer passionate about building secure, scalable, and high-performance systems? Imagine shaping the future of digital identity and access management, where your expertise directly impacts the security and seamless experience of users on a massive scale. We are seeking a visionary Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate next-generation platforms that leverage cutting-edge Java-based API development, cloud-native deployments, and modern access management protocols. This is an incredible opportunity to own critical services, push the boundaries of performance and reliability, and champion AI-assisted development within a security-sensitive environment.

What You'll Do: Drive Impact and Innovation

As a key member of our engineering team, you will be instrumental in delivering robust solutions that form the backbone of our secure digital ecosystem. You will contribute to critical initiatives by:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance Java services, focusing on REST-based APIs and leveraging your deep Security SME knowledge.
  • Building cloud-native, horizontally scalable services deployed across public cloud platforms.
  • Securing APIs using advanced authentication and authorization flows like OIDC, OAuth 2.0, and SAML.
  • Implementing API-first designs with stringent contract discipline, ensuring backward compatibility and clarity.
  • Constructing and operating highly resilient systems designed for fault tolerance, graceful degradation, and rapid recovery, meeting strict SLAs for latency (< 50ms), throughput (> 5,000 TPS), availability ( 99.9%), and error budgets (< 0.1%).
  • Applying advanced resilience patterns including timeouts, retries, circuit breakers, bulkheads, and rate limiting.
  • Participating actively in production support, incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and continuous reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Utilizing CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Owning the entire build deploy run lifecycle, which includes comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning.
  • Working with containerized workloads and implementing modern deployment strategies such as blue/green, canary releases, and feature flags.
  • Actively leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate feature delivery, enhance code quality, improve test coverage, and assist with refactoring, documentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Championing responsible and effective AI usage as an integral part of daily engineering workflows.
  • Collaborating seamlessly with platform, security, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and product teams to deliver comprehensive end-to-end solutions.
  • Contributing significantly to architecture reviews, design discussions, and critical technical decision-making processes.

What You'll Bring: Your Expertise and Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of strong Java expertise, with proven experience building production-grade services that are highly reliable and performant.
  • 6+ years of hands-on API development experience, specifically with RESTful services and robust API security implementations.
  • Demonstrated cloud deployment experience on public cloud platforms.
  • 2+ years of solid experience with critical Access Management protocols, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and SAML2.0.
  • Proven track record of building and operating high-criticality systems that adhere to strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems principles, concurrency, performance optimization techniques, and system resiliency.
  • Extensive experience with observability tools and practices (metrics, logs, traces) and effective production troubleshooting methodologies.
