Job Description

About the Role:

As K9 & Kin continues to grow, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented QMS & Quality Data Technician to support the Quality Assurance and Food Safety teams at our state-of-the-art pet food manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring documentation accuracy, managing quality records, analyzing data, and supporting regulatory and certification compliance.

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager while supporting both Quality Assurance and Food Safety leadership, you will help maintain the integrity of the facility's food safety and quality systems by ensuring records are accurate, controlled, complete, and readily available. This position also supports the product hold, release, and disposition process by verifying that required quality, analytical, production, and food safety documentation is complete before finished products are recommended for release.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • QMS & Document Control: Maintain the facility's Quality Management System documentation and ensure controlled documents, SOPs, work instructions, forms, specifications, and revision histories are current, accurate, properly distributed, and removed from use when obsolete.
  • Records, Reporting & Data Management: Collect, verify, organize, and maintain quality, food safety, sanitation, production, and training records. Develop and distribute routine reports, dashboards, and quality metrics for plant leadership.
  • Compliance & Audit Support: Maintain documentation supporting SQF, HACCP, FSMA, FDA, customer requirements, and internal policies. Support internal audits, regulatory inspections, customer audits, and third-party certification audits by preparing documentation and audit evidence.
  • CAPA, Nonconformance & Verification Tracking: Track corrective and preventive actions, nonconformances, customer complaints, and verification activities through completion while supporting timely follow-up, documentation accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Program & Prerequisite Support: Support environmental monitoring, sanitation verification, calibration, pest management, and other prerequisite program documentation. Assist with product traceability exercises, mock recalls, record retrieval activities, and special projects across the facility.
  • Product Hold, Release & Disposition Support: Coordinate product hold, release, and disposition documentation by verifying analytical results, microbiological testing, production records, and required quality documentation are complete prior to product release. Partner with the Quality Assurance and Food Safety teams to ensure products are released only after all applicable quality, food safety, regulatory, and customer requirements have been satisfied.

Who you are:

  • Experience: You have two or more years of experience in quality systems, document control, regulatory compliance, manufacturing administration, or a similar support role within a regulated environment.
  • Education: An associate's degree in Business, Food Science, Quality Assurance, Information Systems, Agriculture, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred.
  • Detail-Oriented: You are highly organized and passionate about accuracy, with exceptional attention to detail, strong time management skills, and a commitment to confidentiality and record integrity.
  • Analytical: You enjoy working with data, maintaining organized systems, identifying trends, and supporting informed business decisions through accurate reporting and quality metrics.
  • Technical: You have strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word, and experience working with electronic document management systems, ERP software, dashboards, trend reports, or data visualizations is preferred.
  • Collaborator: You communicate clearly and work effectively with Operations, Maintenance, Warehouse, Procurement, Quality Assurance, and Food Safety teams. Experience in pet food, food manufacturing, feed milling, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing industries is preferred, along with working knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMPs, FSMA, FDA regulations, quality management systems, learning management systems, audits, and certification programs.

Working Conditions:

This role is primarily based at our pet food manufacturing facility in Carey, Ohio. Work is conducted within an office, quality, laboratory support, and manufacturing environment and may involve regular interaction with production areas, quality records, manufacturing systems, audit documentation, and facility teams. Occasional exposure to production areas, laboratory settings, manufacturing equipment, sanitation records, or prerequisite program documentation may occur.
