Food Service Worker

Schedule: 6am-2pm, 8-4pm

Duration: 6-month contract (School Year)

Job Description:

Insight Global is seeking a Food Service Worker for a top public education client in Southlake, TX. This candidate will support daily child nutrition operations by preparing and serving meals, safely operating commercial kitchen equipment, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation, assisting with cashier functions, and working collaboratively with the food service team. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial kitchen, and committed to providing consistent, quality meal service.

Day-to-Day:

• Prepare quality food according to planned menus and standardized recipes
• Serve meals according to schedules, policies, and procedures
• Practice portion control and safely store and handle food and supplies
• Maintain clean, organized storage and food-service areas
• Operate kitchen equipment according to established safety standards
• Maintain sanitation standards and identify/report unsafe conditions
• Handle cashier responsibilities and maintain daily food preparation records
• Collaborate with staff and adapt to changes in procedures and techniques

Must-Haves:

• Effective interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
• Ability to understand food preparation and safety instructions
• Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures
• Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment/tools
• Basic arithmetic skills
• Must obtain and maintain a current Food Handler Certificate, renewed every two years as required
• Able to frequently lift and carry 15–44 lbs and work on feet in a commercial kitchen environment

Plusses:

• Previous food service or commercial kitchen experience
• Experience with food preparation, portion control, sanitation, and cashier functions aligned with the role's responsibilities

• November: Nov. 11 (possibly Nov. 16)
• Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 23 - Nov. 27
• Christmas/Winter Break: Dec. 21 - Jan. 4 (Jan. 4 is a cleaning day; school resumes Jan. 5)
• January: Jan. 18
• February: Feb. 12 and Feb. 15
• Spring Break: Mar. 12 - Mar. 19
• Additional March Days Off: Mar. 26 and Mar. 29
• May: Last day of school is May 20; May 21 may also be the last day pending confirmation.
