Help Perfecto Decide What Work We Win

Perfecto Tool and Engineering Co., Inc. is growing, adding customers and capabilities while investing in a new building, our team, technology, processes, and systems. We are looking for an experienced manufacturing professional who understands how work is actually made and can turn that knowledge into accurate, competitive, and commercially sound estimates.

This role is built for a proven machine shop estimator. You will use your estimating experience and hands-on knowledge of machining processes to build routings, set realistic cycle and setup times, test quotes against shop capacity, and help Perfecto decide what work to pursue and how to win it. You may already be a senior estimator in a job shop or contract machining environment, or a cost or quoting engineer with direct ownership of machine shop quotes and routings.

Mission of the Position

The Senior Manufacturing Estimator converts customer requirements into accurate, timely, and competitive machine shop estimates. Working closely with Sales, Engineering, and Operations, you will define the manufacturing process and routing for each job, estimate setup and run times by work center, confirm the work fits available capacity, and document assumptions and risks. Success means better quote quality, faster turnaround, routings the shop can run as quoted, and winning work that fits our capacity and supports profitable growth.

What You Will Own

· Review customer drawings, GD&T, specifications, models, and supporting information to establish scope, manufacturability, and the best machining approach.

· Build detailed routings with operation sequences, work centers, setup and cycle times, tooling and fixturing, material requirements, outside processes, and other cost inputs.

· Identify cost drivers, technical risks, missing information, and potential failure points before quoting.

· Document assumptions, exclusions, risks, and open questions so commercial and manufacturing teams understand each estimate.

· Evaluate machine and labor capacity by work center, flag bottlenecks, and set lead times that reflect the current shop load.

· Partner with Sales, Engineering, and Operations to validate methods, routings, and capacity assumptions, and support quote reviews and disciplined pursue, no-pursue, and pricing decisions.

· Compare estimated routings, hours, and costs with actual job results, then refine time standards, estimating tools, and standard work.

The Experience We Are Looking For

· Proven, hands-on estimating experience in a high-mix, low-volume CNC machine shop, job shop, or precision tooling environment. Strong machine shop estimating is essential.

· Deep knowledge of machine shop processes, including CNC milling and turning, multi-axis machining, grinding, EDM, fixturing, tooling, materials, and common outside processes such as heat treat and plating.

· Proven ability to build accurate routings and estimate setup and cycle times by operation and work center from drawings and models.

· Experience with capacity planning, including work center loading, bottleneck analysis, and setting realistic lead times. ERP-based estimating and routing experience is a plus; JobBOSS experience is a strong plus.

· Commercial judgment that balances accuracy, competitiveness, risk, capacity, customer value, and profitability, plus clear communication with Sales, Engineering, Operations, customers, and suppliers.

· Confidence asking questions and challenging weak assumptions.

· Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines without losing important details.

Formal machine shop estimating experience is required. We are looking for senior estimators, cost or quoting engineers, and manufacturing or process engineers who have owned quotes, routings, and capacity assumptions in a machining environment. Experienced machinists or toolmakers will be considered when they bring direct, substantial estimating and routing responsibility.

An associate or bachelor’s degree in machining, engineering, manufacturing, or a related discipline is helpful but not required when equivalent manufacturing experience demonstrates the ability to succeed.

What Success Looks Like

· Quotes delivered within agreed turnaround times, with clear, supportable manufacturing assumptions.

· Important cost drivers and technical risks identified before submission, with assumptions, exclusions, and open questions documented.

· Trust earned through responsiveness, technical credibility, and commercial judgment.

· Routings and time standards that closely match actual shop results, with estimate quality improved through job-cost feedback.

· Quoted lead times the shop can meet, and work won that fits Perfecto’s capabilities, capacity, customers, and growth strategy.

Why Join Perfecto

You will influence more than the price on a quote: what work we pursue, how we manufacture it, what risks we accept, and where we build capability. Perfecto’s investment in our team development, manufacturing environment, technology, and estimating methods offers meaningful technical ownership, access to manufacturing leadership, and participation in building a stronger commercial and operational system. As Perfecto grows, this role offers a visible path toward broader commercial or operational leadership.
