Industrial Manufacturing Engineer — Precision Glass Operations

Imagine this: a new production week begins, and you’ve already mapped out tooling prep, lined up process documents, and briefed operators. By midweek, you’ve cut a recurring defect in half using SPC and a 5 Why session. On Friday, you publish updated process sheets and confirm parts meet customer specs. If this rhythm excites you, read on.

Your mission
  • Engineer and steward an assigned segment of the glass fabrication process.
  • Manage all process tooling so each production run starts ready and stays stable.
  • Troubleshoot line performance, lifting throughput while improving dimensional capability.
  • Verify conformance of components to customer requirements and maintain documentation.
  • Author and revise drawings and process sheets to reflect validated improvements.
  • Lead initiatives to strengthen capability and reduce scrap across your area.
  • Analyze weekly production results, identify performance gaps, and implement fixes that stick.
  • Train operators to operate plant equipment safely and effectively.
What you need to succeed Education & credentials
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering; or an equivalent technical discipline; or comparable years of automotive glass processing experience.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
Experience & skills
  • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
  • PLC experience preferred.
  • Background working with manufacturing equipment or assembly lines.
  • Fluency with Six Sigma, SPC, 5 Why, and Pareto for sustainable production improvement.
  • Advanced/intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint capabilities.
How you show up
  • Hands-on, analytical, and resourceful with excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Clear communicator who collaborates well in team settings and takes initiative.
  • Systems thinker with strong process understanding.
  • Prepared to work beyond the traditional 40-hour week as needed for projects or workload, including weekends and holidays.

We uphold and expect alignment with the Carlex Values: Safety, Accountability, Results Oriented, Team Approach, Customer Focused, Integrity and Ethics.
