Job Description
Robotics Assembly Technician - FANUC Experience
Location: Auburn Hills, MI · Pay: $23.50–$25.00 · Type: Contract
If you have ever looked at an industrial robot and thought, 'I could build one of those,' here is your chance, minus the movie-villain lair. Our client, an established industrial automation company, needs a hands-on contract technician to assemble, wire, test and ship robots and robotic systems. You will turn prints and schematics into working machines and make sure each one leaves ready to work for its new owner.
What you'll do- Assemble, modify and integrate robots and related equipment using prints, illustrations and schematics
- Position and secure robots and equipment exactly where the engineering drawings place them
- Jog robots with a teach pendant and teach simple robot paths
- Load, upgrade and back up robot controller software
- Test and verify products and systems against engineering releases and control plans, recording every in-process check
- Troubleshoot and debug mechanical, electrical and pneumatic issues, the detective work behind every smooth-running robot
- Take down and prep finished systems for shipment, and keep tools and your work area organized
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent; a mechatronics, automation or engineering associate degree is a plus
- Bring at least 1 year in a related field such as automation, maintenance, prototype, quality or automotive tech
- Read electrical, mechanical and pneumatic drawings and schematics, including the odd legend symbols
- Use hand, power and electrical diagnostic tools with confidence
- Know your way around ISO 9001, MIOSHA lockout/tagout and hazardous material rules
- Bring FANUC robot experience, ETA or NETA certification, or experience leading and training a small team as a bonus
- Show up with your own rolling, lockable toolbox and steel toe boots (a tool list will be provided)
Most work happens indoors in a clean, well-lit, air-conditioned shop, though some assignments may send you to customer sites or other locations, and overtime follows business needs. Expect to lift up to 50 pounds, use your tools all day, and run cranes, forklifts and pallet jacks, with training and certification provided. Robots do the heavy lifting eventually, just not before you build them.
