Ophthalmic Technician

The Ophthalmic Technician will support ophthalmologist-led and optometrist-led practices serving patients across general ophthalmology, glaucoma, cornea and refractive surgery, and cataract surgery. This role will contribute to routine examinations, preoperative evaluations, postoperative follow-up, and urgent eye care while performing clinical testing, documenting patient information, and supporting efficient patient care.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient intake and obtain comprehensive medical histories.
• Perform visual acuity testing, tonometry, visual field testing, and refracting.
• Conduct ophthalmic imaging and diagnostic testing, including OCT and fundus photography.
• Perform biometry and optical ultrasound testing.
• Operate visual field analyzers and electronic medication and imaging systems.
• Document clinical findings and patient information accurately in the EHR.
• Support routine examinations, preoperative evaluations, postoperative follow-up, and urgent eye care visits.

Preferred Qualifications

• Entry-level experience in ophthalmic clinical support.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with visual acuity testing, tonometry, ophthalmic imaging, and visual field testing.
• Familiarity with electronic health records and clinical documentation.
• Patient education and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
