Position: Activity Director

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

As our Activity Director, you will be leading life enrichment activities with purpose, passion, and structure. You'll develop and lead meaningful programs while coaching our care team to make every interaction count. This role reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Wellness/Memory Care Director.

Main Responsibilities

• Program Leadership
• Implements structured, evidence-informed programming based on emotional memory and relational care.
• Ensures monthly themes, weekly rhythms (e.g., Mindful Monday, Thankful Thursday), and seasonal décor are actively used and visible throughout the community.

Staff Engagement & Training

• Trains and supports care team members in carrying out meaningful engagement throughout the day, not just during scheduled activities.
• Models relational-centered interactions that promote emotional safety and connection.
• Provides daily coaching, feedback, and positive reinforcement to ensure team-wide participation in activities

Resident Experience

• Designs and leads life enrichment activities tailored to each resident's history, interests, and retained abilities.
• Monitors residents' responses to programming and adjusts approaches to promote engagement, reduce distress, and support dignity.
• Creates "moments of success" through music, movement, nature, creativity, and sensory-based experiences.
• Ensures programming is inclusive, sensory-friendly, and emotionally connective.

Environment & Habilitation

• Collaborates with the care team to ensure environments support calm, familiarity, and orientation.
• Reinforces a daily structure that builds on each resident's remaining strengths and accommodates changes in memory and sequencing.
• Supports residents through non-pharmacological approaches to behaviors and unmet needs.

Documentation & Quality

• Maintains programming calendars, attendance logs, and engagement notes per company protocol.
• Participates in quality assurance reviews and contributes to the continuous improvement of memory care services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Prior experience as an Activity Director, Life Enrichment Director, or similar role in senior living or memory care
• Demonstrated understanding of dementia, person-centered care, and therapeutic engagement
• A creative, organized educator and coach who can guide a team to participate meaningfully
• Strong communication and team-building skills
• Passionate about enriching the lives of older adults
