About this job
Job Description
Great roofs start with a solid estimate. That’s where you come in.
You notice the detail buried in the specifications. You ask the question that prevents an expensive surprise. And you know a competitive bid needs to hold up just as well as the roof itself.
Nations Roof is seeking a Commercial Roofing Estimator who combines technical roofing knowledge, sharp attention to detail, and sound business judgment to turn project opportunities into accurate, profitable proposals.
Why Nations Roof?
Nations Roof brings together the resources of a national commercial roofing contractor with the relationships and expertise of local teams. Our work spans commercial roof replacement, new construction, service, and maintenance for local, regional, and national customers.
Join a team where your expertise helps shape project decisions, your relationships matter, and your work contributes directly to business success. You’ll collaborate with roofing professionals across sales, service, and operations, with opportunities to expand your knowledge and grow your career.
What You’ll Do
Reporting to the President or designated manager, you’ll price, propose, sell, and negotiate commercial roofing projects while helping ensure a smooth transition from bid to execution.
Build accurate, competitive estimates. Prepare takeoffs, scope descriptions, bids, and proposals that account for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and project requirements.
Read between the roof lines. Review plans, specifications, addenda, and construction documents to identify scope gaps, exclusions, and conditions that affect cost or execution.
Get eyes on the project. Conduct site visits to evaluate existing conditions, verify measurements, and gather information for new construction and reroof opportunities.
Develop dependable pricing. Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes, confirm scope coverage, and negotiate pricing.
Create practical solutions. Partner with operations and sales teams to develop roofing options that balance performance, customer priorities, and budget.
Build business through relationships. Communicate with customers, consultants, contractors, and suppliers to develop opportunities and earn profitable repeat work.
Connect the estimate to the field. Participate in project review and handoff meetings, clearly communicating scope, assumptions, pricing, and project requirements to operations.
Keep the details organized. Maintain current bid records, construction documents, and project tracking tools; support submittals, permitting coordination, and closeout documentation as needed.
Manage competing deadlines. Prioritize multiple opportunities while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and quality.
What You Bring
At least 3 years of experience in an Estimating position working directly for a commercial roofing contractor.
Working knowledge of commercial roofing systems, materials, installation methods, and project requirements.
Strong attention to detail—you understand how a small omission can become a large cost.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Clear verbal and written communication skills and confidence discussing scope, pricing, and project needs.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and the ability to learn estimating and project tracking tools.
Previous estimating, takeoff, proposal development, or project pricing experience preferred.
Experience with the EDGE, Microsoft Project, or other construction estimating software highly preferred.
A degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
